While official resources are important, students have come across several third-party resources that are quick and easy ways to save money at Carolina.

We have highlighted several below.

 

Carolina Closet

An organization that provides undergraduate and graduate students, as well as faculty, to attire for professional opportunities. Individuals are able to rent business casual and professional attire at no cost.

 

 

Carolina Cupboard Community Food Pantry

An on-campus food pantry to help students, faculty, and staff members facing food insecurity receive food at no cost. Pick up hours are available on the website and by appointment. 

 

 

Edible Campus Satellite Gardens

11 satellite gardens across campus that are free for anyone to pick and enjoy! 

 

 

UNC Hunger Lunch

Low cost, healthy lunch for students. Every Wednesday from 11-2PM in the pit, basmati rice, chickpea curry, and naan is available for ~$6. Visit their Facebook page for more information.

 

 

Styled for Success

This site allows juniors, seniors, and grad students to apply for funding for professional attire. Applicants must be recipients of need-based financial aid and actively involved in a job or internship.

 

 

Adobe Creative Cloud

This site allows you to download Adobe Creative Cloud for free using your UNC email.

 

 

Carolina Thrift

An organization that hosts big sales of gently used items throughout the year with the goal of reducing needless waste.

 

 

Fastweb Scholarship Finder

A scholarship finder for rising and current undergraduate students.

 

 

Annual Credit Report

Made possible by Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion, this website allows you to obtain a free copy of your credit report once every 12 months without affecting your credit score.

 

 

Commuter Alternative Program (CAP)

This program provides rewards to students, faculty, and staff for riding a bike/walking to campus, joining a rideshare, or taking the bus. Individuals must live off-campus and must forgo an on-campus daytime parking permit. For more details on requirements and rewards visit the website.

 

Discounted Car Insurance

These insurance companies provide your parents with student discounts if receiving good grades; age requirements and GPA requirements vary based on each provider. Most require that you are under the age of 25 and have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Discounted Cell Phone Service

These cell service providers offer discounts to students. Other cell service providers may also provide discounts. Call your provider for more information or to see if you qualify.

This site allows you to manage and monitor your cell-phone data usage and is available in both Google Play and Apple stores.

Uni-Days

This site allows you to access discounts at various popular stores using any .edu email.

 

 

Spotify and Hulu

This site allows you to purchase Spotify premium at half the cost and includes a free Hulu (ad-supported) plan using any .edu email.

 

 

Amazon Prime Student

This allows you to have a free 6-month Amazon Prime account then a discounted Prime account for $6.49/month using any .edu email.
